Surveys
If your mapping project depends on what people know about their neighbourhood, a Survey is the easiest way to let them tell you.
A Survey is a form made for your project. It opens with your own story of what you are mapping and why, and asks the questions you choose. Anyone you share it with can fill it in, from home or standing in front of the place, without joining your team or learning the platform.
Every answer becomes a suggested site. Nothing lands on your map until someone from your team has looked at it, so you stay in charge of what gets published.
How a Survey project works
- Prepare the team that runs the project, the map that receives the sites and the icons that describe them.
- Set up the Survey in the form editor: your story, the questions, the schedule. Then test it and make it public.
- Spread the word. Share the link or a QR code, and use the cover picture on social media, posters and at events.
- Review and publish the answers as they arrive, so the sites people suggested appear on your Green Map.
Good to know
- One map can have several Surveys: one for old trees, one for drinking fountains, one for a weekend event.
- A Survey doesn’t have to put anything on a map. It can also just collect answers, like feedback after a walk.
- What contributors tell you about themselves, like their email, stays with your team and is never published with the site.
- You can give a Survey a start and an end date, so it collects answers only while your campaign runs.
